5 Secrets to prolong the effect of BOTOX

When you devote time and money to an aesthetic treatment, you deserve to be able to look in the mirror and see glowing skin and a younger visage. And once you’ve seen this ‘new you’, you won’t want the effects to disappear too soon.

Botox has become one of the nation’s most popular aesthetic treatments; offering complete rejuvenation for users of all ages and all skin types. While the average Botox treatment lasts for between three and six months, it is absolutely possible to prolong these effects through good aftercare and appropriate skincare.

Read on for some great tips from aesthetic expert Ana Paula Amaral on how to prolong the effects of your next Botox treatment...

1. Choose high-quality treatments
Product quality has a profound influence on the duration of aesthetic treatments such as Botox. Always be wary of prices which seem too cheap.

2. Follow up with your technician
The amount applied and the dilution of the product on the skin can have a big effect on how long your Botox will last. Choose a qualified professional who offers a follow-up service to assess whether or not you need a top-up a few days after your initial appointment.

3. Avoid certain pills
Changes in metabolism and antibiotic use may diminish the effects of Botox as they accelerate the process of toxin degradation in the body. If you are unsure whether or not this applies to you and your medication, check with your doctor before booking any other treatments.

4. Don’t pull faces
Avoid making facial expressions in the mirror to “test the Botox”. When you activate your facial muscles, the product is absorbed more quickly, shortening its duration.

5. Add zinc to your diet
Zinc helps to prolong the effects of Botox. Add it to your diet by consuming omega-3 rich foods, or by taking a zinc supplement on a daily basis.
